Why this one

Balance is trainable, it responds fast, and almost nobody trains it on purpose. Two minutes a day next to a counter is the highest-return thing on this whole site — and the pad is what turns standing still into training.

How to do it

  1. Put the pad on the floor next to a kitchen counter.

  2. Step on with both feet, fingertips resting on the counter.

  3. Stand still for thirty seconds. That is the exercise — it will not feel still.

  4. When thirty seconds is easy, try it with one hand, then with fingertips hovering.

Watch for

Practising with nothing to grab. Always be within arm's reach of something solid, every single time, no matter how steady it starts to feel.

Make it easier

Stand on the floor beside the pad with one foot on it, both hands on the counter.

Make it harder

Feet closer together, then one foot in front of the other. Eyes open, always.
