A back that tolerates a long sit

The rare exercise that happens while you do nothing. Sitting on an unstable surface keeps the small muscles either side of the spine working through a television programme — and you can make it easier by letting air out.
Inflate the cushion about two-thirds full to start. Less air is easier.
Put it on a firm chair — not an armchair you sink into — and sit on it normally.
Sit for fifteen minutes with both feet flat on the floor.
When that is comfortable, add time, then add air.
Using it on a chair with wheels. Firm and stationary only.
Let air out until it barely moves, and start with five minutes.
Add air. Or stand on it, once the balance pad has become easy.
